Bio

Hana character Hana, the top professional gamer, is tired of destroying her opponents and decides to try her hand at creating the perfect video game. In order to achieve her grand goal, she finds herself joining Monash as an IT student. She hopes to use her newly acquired skills along with her expertise in games to carry on her legacy.

Interests

Hana started gaming from a young age. She enjoys games such as Overwatch, Counter-Strike, and League of Legends and strives to be the best. Along with her gaming antics, she also finds herself enjoying a fair share of anime. She recently started picking up cooking as well to help with the family during the pandemic. On top of all that, Hana is also interested in all the beautiful people in the world, especially women. So before bed every day, she sets aside some time to compile the data of all the beautiful women she can find on Instagram. She wishes to collect millions of data points from photo sharing sites and put them into sophisticated software algorithms to create a woman with the perfect appearance as the protagonist in her dream game, capable of conquering the challenges.

Worries

Hana character Hana is feeling a little nervous about making friends since she considers herself as being very introverted. That said, she is also somewhat scared about the workload and whether she will be able to manage keeping up with the pace of the units she is enrolled in. A few days in the Monash O-week festival, however, Hana has already found and joined a Whatsapp group chat with people taking the same course as hers. She also discovered about the discord servers for Monash first years as well as for IT first years. Just by introducing herself after having joined these servers, Hana ended up chatting with a person that she might meet in person for a chat as soon as uni starts.

Pre-university, Hana had been to girls-only schools all her life and had near to none experience interacting with guys. She is also scared that she would not be able to relate to other people as she spent all her life being the best at video games. In order to face these challenges of hers, she asked for a list of clubs available at Monash for students to join and have found MEGA to be her perfect haven to meet like-minded individuals.

One other thing Hana believes might be a challenge for her would be learning in a university environment, because things are not the same with what Hana was used to, which is the K-12 education. In other words, Hana is a bit worried how she will be responsible for what she does do and doesn’t do, as well as for the consequences of her decisions. She is used to high-school environments where there has always been teachers, and other school personnel who’d watch her out, guiding and correcting her if necessary. However, with the connections that Hana has already made, she was made aware that she can always request to meet with an advisor from her faculty with whom she can discuss any concern that she might have. She also learned that Lecturers and Tutors have weekly consultation sessions and will be more than happy to answer any question she might have. On the other hand, if she still feels like she needs some help, Hana decided to try working on developing herself with the help of a counsellor when she learned about the free counselling services offered by Monash for students.
